1. On September 29th, 2015, Stephanie and I took a stroll through High Spur. It was an absolutely gorgeous canyon. The sandstone in this canyon is so unblemished and red that few other canyons can rival its beauty. The flat bottom is so wide you could almost push a wheelchair through it. Some canyons take a hefty toll, but this one just gives.
2. The third section is the High Spur slot canyons located east of the Dirty Devil slots and drain from south to north into the Green River. Canyonlands National Park has an external unit that encompasses Horseshoe Canyon as there are some of the best pictograph displays in the world on the canyon walls of Horseshoe.

Overview

BLM Land: High Spur is located on BLM land, and currently there are no regulations or access issues. You can camp at large anywhere in the general vicinity, no permit required. Most slot canyons are found on public lands managed by the US Government, although a few can be found on private lands.

High spur is in many people's opinion the most beautiful canyon in the Robber's Roost area. I would agree it is certainly high up on the list. It is a photographers dream! Although technical, much of it can be enjoyed by hikers hiking down and returning the same way.

The technical difficulties are straightforward, making this a good canyon for canyoneers of all abilities. It also, generally, doesn't hold much water, making it a good early or late season outing.
