Dogs Playing Poker(A Friend In Need) was painted in 1903 by Cassius Marcellus Coolidge. Maybe the most famous of his paintings,it shows seven dogs sitting around a table playing poker in the wee morning hours of the morning.It derives its name from the bulldog handing an ace under the table to his dog friend. Coolidge was commissioned to paint it by a company who was advertising cigars.
